Science fair will be handled differently this year than it has in the past. Please read below for more information:
Integrated Science classes (Periods 1 & 6): Each student will be required to design and implement a science fair project for a class grade. Topic proposals are due by Oct. 14th for approval. Projects are due by December 16th. NO PROJECTS will be accepted after Dec. 16th! Students should complete all work at home from Oct 14-Dec 15. Presentations will take place during science class from Dec. 16-20, 2013.
This project is a class grade and therefore is not optional. However, Integrated Science students will have an opportunity to do an extra credit project in the second quarter if they would like to earn extra credit.
Science 7 classes (Periods 3, 4, and 5): Each student may complete a science fair project for extra credit. Because this project is the only extra credit assignment offered during the school year, your child's participation is highly encouraged. Topic ideas are due by October 14th. All projects are due by December 16th. NO late projects will be accepted for credit! This project is worth 200 points.
Topic ideas can be turned in after October 14th; however, if you would like to do a project with plants/seeds, it's best to get your project approved sooner rather than later. Project ideas MUST be approved before the student can begin the experiment!
Projects must be presented on a show board, which is available for purchase in the school library for $4 or local office supply stores.
Science fair information packets were made available to students on Oct 7th. You can print a packet from the school website (link to science fair info).
